A warning from the Northwestern Health Unit if you are making a trip to Winnipeg or other parts of Manitoba the next couple of days.
COVID-19 numbers have been steadily increasing in the western province in recent days.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says you should do your homework before travelling.
“There is a section in Manitoba where they have increased public health measures. So they have reduced gatherings to 10 people and they’ve now mandated the use of face masks and coverings in enclosed public spaces.”
A majority of the cases are coming from the Prairie Mountain region, which is west of Winnipeg.
She notes for the most part the numbers are small in certain parts of Manitoba and the health unit isn’t in a position to not recommend travel right now.
Dr. Kit Young Hoon still recommends the basics including physical distancing, wearing a mask, following good hand hygiene, avoiding touching your face, staying home when your sick and consider getting tested.”
She adds you should avoid using public transportation and participating in large gatherings and events.
