Dryden residents can show off their smiles now, even while wearing a mask with the library’s ‘Smile Button Project.’
Library Technician Jayme Stansfield explains that the project comes at a great time, in light of the mandatory mask order.
“We’ve been talking about different ways we can help out in the community during these strange times with COVID-19. We realized that a lot of people felt uncomfortable wearing masks or seeing other people wearing masks, because they couldn’t recognize them person behind the mask. So that’s where the smile buttons come in.”
Stansfield adds that anyone who works with the public such as teachers for back to school, nurses, personal support workers or anyone who works with the public could really benefit from wearing a smile button.
The library has already received tons of response and inquiries for buttons, since introducing the project on Wednesday.
“We’re super excited. We’ve also had one of the local school boards reach out as well and we’re hoping to get them some buttons for their staff. Anyone that’s interested, reach out. I also have a goal to make 600 buttons, so you can help me reach that goal too.”
Buttons are free to order and the library prints them right on site.
