Rain has helped fire crews get a handle on Red Lake Fire 49.
At 5:30 the fire remains at 552 hectares in size and is not under control however the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says excellent progress was made on the line today.
Rain has eased the threat but an evacuation order remains in place.
The fire was hit with 16.5 millimetres early Friday and more rain is in the forecast.
The fire is burning 3 kilometres south of the Red Lake townsite and 24 crews are responding.
Eight helicopters continue to assist in suppression efforts.
Despite positive developments evacuations are still necessary and travel restrictions remain in place.
