Red Lake Fire 49 has now grown to 750 hectares in size.
The blaze has moved eastward from its origin near Madsen and is now roughly three kilometres south of the Red Lake townsite and three kilometres west of Highway 105.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports air attack, ground crews and heavy equipment worked throughout the day Tuesday to slow the fire’s progress.
Provincial Police are not recommending travel to Red Lake and the northbound lane of Highway 105 is closed at Ear Falls.
Southbound traffic is flowing.
Highway 618 is also closed in both directions.
