The next City of Dryden master plan will have a heavy focus on strengthening relations with their Indigenous population.
That’s according to Councillor Norm Bush who sits on the strategic plan steering committee.
Bush says its their hope that the plan will focus on community diversity and inclusion as well as economic diversity and inclusion.
He says they have outlined three specific goals:
-Developing support systems to help integrate and familiarize new and existing citizens to the City of Dryden. Indigenous and non-Indigenous.
-Continuing to foster positive relationships with Indigenous Peoples in neighbouring First Nations communities.
-Partnering with Indigenous organizations and communities and other organizations to foster local and regional economic growth.
The full list of recommendations are expected to be presented to Council on Monday.
Council members Shayne MacKinnon and Michelle Price as well as Chief Administrative Officer Roger Nesbitt were also involved in drafting the recommendations.
