A number of Canadians have suffered some form of financial or emotional hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That’s the latest from polling company Narrative Research.
CEO Margaret Brigley says they asked 1,200 Canadians about struggles in their households.
“Across the country we saw 29%, so one-third in essence, of Canadians actually say they are experiencing hardships financially.”
Ontario, B.C. and Newfoundland and Labrador had the highest percentages of people suffering setbacks.
Brigley says those who are self-employed, unemployed or in the lower household income bracket are the most impacted.
When it comes to rallying together during the crisis, Brigley says the phrase “we’re all in this together” is certainly true.
“Six in ten. 57% of all Canadians believe that to be the case. They think that this experience has brought us together and unified us as a country.”
Sixty-Two per cent of Ontarians surveyed agreed with the strengthening of unity as a result of the coronavirus.
