The Northwestern Health Unit is warning of reports of algae blooms at Thunder Lake in Dryden.
The health unit is currently testing to see if they are blue-green algae and at this time the results are not known.
Some blue-green algae can produce toxins and can pose a health risk to people and animals if exposed to in large amounts.
With the recent warmer weather there is an increased risk of this kind of algae so people should avoid contact with water that is discoloured or has scum on the surface.
If contact is made the health unit urges to wash thoroughly with soap and water.
