The Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit is asking the public to not take their foot off the gas pedal.
Dr. Ian Gemmill says with more social gatherings permitted in our region, it’s now more than ever important to follow COVID-19 health guidelines.
Dr. Gemmill is urging people to continue physical distancing, washing hands, avoid non-essential travel and maintain proper hygiene.
He notes physical groupings of ten are now allowed in Ontario.
Social circles are different from social gatherings.
A social circle is voluntary, but if adopted should include all household members, and can include family and friends outside the household up to a maximum of 10 people in the social circle, who can interact and come into close contact with one another without physical distancing.
Social gatherings are limited to 10 people and physical distancing must be followed.
Dr. Gemmill says “Obviously some fatigue is setting in. The weather is nicer. We kind of want to relax. It’s not the time to relax. You know these last few weeks have been very difficult. We’re not out of the woods yet and the practice (following health guidelines) is good even though we are at low risk.”
