Summer Learning programs will still go forward at the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board, but they will be online.
The programs will be taking place for grade 1-3 students at Open Roads Public School in Dryden, Ear Falls Public School and King George in Kenora.
Superintendent of Education Caryl Hron says “providing reading supports through the summer will really help those students maintain their current reading as well as making sure that they are ready and set to go when we come back in September.”
Hron says the goal of the program is to ensure a smooth transition into the 2020/2021 school year.
She notes the plan right now is operating from August 4th to August 22nd.
Meantime, Director of Education Sherri-Lynne Pharand says summer programming at the high school level will focus on credit recovery.
“For students who need additional time or experiences in order to finish their credits and stay on track to graduate.”
Pharand notes they are anticipating enhanced learning opportunities for students this summer and are waiting for more details from the Ministry of Education.
