January 5, 1950 – May 18, 2020
It is with great sadness the Naumann family announces the passing of a beloved and cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend Hans Naumann on May 18, 2020, at the age of 70.
He will be dearly missed, endlessly loved, and fondly remembered by the love of his life and soulmate Joanne Naumann; by his daughter Stacey Levesque (husband Stephan, and children Ryan and Cody); by his son Nathan Naumann (wife Pamela, and children Reina and Patience); by his son Bill McCuaig (wife Franca, and children Tristan Joseph (TJ), Tianna, and Aurora); by his daughter-in-law Olenka McCuaig (children Christian and Ava); his grandson Stephan McCuaig (wife Ashley and son Kayden); brother Dwight Naumann (wife Kathy, daughter Kassandra); Sister Marianne Nauman (children Carolyn Hauta and Candice Withers); sister-in-law Annie Naumann (children Lisa Nigh and Mary).
Hans is predeceased by his loving parents Wilhelmina and Eugene Naumann (Sr), his son John McCuaig, and his brother Eugene Naumann (Jr).
Hans also holds a special place in the hearts and memories of numerous friends, extended family, and family friends who shared time with Hans throughout his 70 years.
Although he was a man of a million interests, hobbies, and skill sets, Hans’ true passion lay in the outdoors, in his community, and most of all, in his family.
An avid outdoorsman, Hans spent every moment he could enjoying the outdoors – Fishing, Hunting, Camping, exploring – with his soulmate Joanne always at his side… getting him out of the many predicaments he was famous for getting himself into.
Along with his loving and overly understanding wife, there was most often a friend or family member tagging along and enjoying the snappy comebacks and friendly (more than often, hilarious) jabs that Hans would throw their way. He spent many hours teaching the ways of the bush to those eager to learn it – instilling strong ties and to the outdoors in his wife, sons, daughter, and numerous grandchildren. Some have named him “The Godfather of 325 Rd” because of the deep family roots he embedded there and the depth of knowledge he held of the area.
Known for his ability to solve any problem and fix anything, Hans could put McGuiver to shame with his crazy fixes, his extensive collection of odds and ends, and his ability to repair everything with the most out of the world solutions.
Hans is well known in the community of Ignace, where he worked for the Township public works for 40 years – becoming known as the legendary grader operator and the go to guy for anything Ignace related. Even in his later years, Hans was able to recall the finest details of the town’s infrastructure, assisting with many projects even after retirement.
At Hans’ request, there will be no service. At his request, a gathering of family and friends will occur at a later date at the Naumann Family property on Fox Point Rd in Ignace, ON.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the Mary Berglund Community Health Centre in Hans’ name – for their amazing team and above-and-beyond support through Hans’ declining health through Stevens Funeral Home P.O .Box 412, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1. .
