The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is doing its part to help protect frontline staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Superintendent of Education Caryl Hron says they utilized 3D printers to produce flexible straps for face masks.
“Dave Weaver, who is one of our Learning Technology team members, he had already started making straps and handing them out. So we were very excited that he already had the process at hand and that he was making the straps and we were excited to be able to send them out to local communities.”
To date, a total of 657 straps have been printed and delivered to more than 20 individuals and organizations across the board area.
Hron says “We’re all in this pandemic together and the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board really wanted to support front-line workers in our communities. We know that people are working very hard and very long hours and it’s a little way for our board to give back.”
She adds “The community does a lot for our schools, our families, our staff and our students. So it’s one way for us to give back to our community members. We we are very excited to take this on and make the straps for anybody who would like them.”
Thank you to Dave for recognizing the need and taking this on, and to our Superintendent, Caryl Hron, for coordinating and delivering the straps. We are very proud of your efforts to support our communities and frontline workers during the pandemic! #KPDSBPride #InThisTogether
