Many people were left disappointed earlier this week as the Snowbirds did not make any stops between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg.
Officials say the decision not to fly over the region was made for logistical regions, noting they can only carry out a maximum of three missions per day.
Captain Jenn Casey says the team is limited by fuel range, as well as places to stay overnight during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She says normally they can stay almost anywhere, but during the health crisis they’re trying to maximize the use of military facilities.
When it comes to logistics, Casey says each fly over is around four hours of work, and they had to make a tough decision between Barrie and Winnipeg on where they could fuel the planes.
The RCAF show squadron performed for front-line workers in Thunder Bay on Monday, before heading to Winnipeg to help celebrate Manitoba’s 150th birthday Tuesday.
