The Northwestern Health Unit is getting some help in COVID-19 testing.
There have been some regional concerns of delays in testing and results.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill says Thunder Bay is up and running, while some tests are being done in Manitoba to make things quicker.
Dr. Gemmill notes results can take as little as two days and as long as over a week to come back.
He notes health officials continue to work on improving those times.
Dr. Gemmill stresses patients are told to self-isolate for 14 days as they are taking the test, regardless of result.
There is only one unresolved COVID-19 positive cases in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area and that’s in Atikokan.
There have been a total of 16 reported cases and 761 tests have come back negative.
Officials are waiting for the results of 329.
