The Dryden Police Service is thanking residents for doing their part to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Chief Doug Palson says he’s impressed to see how seriously people are taking this.
“That has made our response a lot smoother and easier. Overall our last few weeks, calls for service have been down substantially, which is a good thing. Unfortunately that could change at any time.”
Palson is asking residents to keep doing what they are doing.
Palson says a number of protective measures are in place at the Police Service including physical distancing.
He notes they have stocked up on personal protection equipment and each member is now equipped with protective kits.
There is limited public access to the Police Detachment and screening is in place.
Palson says cleaning takes place throughout the day and they are even bringing someone in during the evenings for another round of cleaning.
Palson says they are trying to handle all low priority calls on the phone instead of in-person.
He adds they have moved to single member patrol units as opposed to having two members in the car.
