Premier Doug Ford says he’s proud of the province’s response to COVID-19.
In an interview with Acadia News, Ford says residents of the province are the real heroes.
“It just shows what the people of Ontario are made of. There’s no better region in the entire world than Ontario. It’s just an unique group of people and everyone is stepping up. I am so, so grateful, so proud, to lead the people of Ontario.”
He added “I give all the credit to the people of Ontario. The companies out there that are stepping up and converting their lines over. The Seniors that are at home. The sewing machines that are making face masks for their community.”
Ford deflected all credit he has been receiving for his handling of the crisis, stressing health care workers on the frontline’s deserve the accolades.
Ford says they had more than 8,000 calls from retired doctors and nurses to help out when the call first went out.
The new Health Workforce Matching Portal was launched earlier this month.
Today I had the opportunity to speak with @895TheLakeNews and their listeners. As I told them, I have to give credit to the people of Ontario. They’re stepping up to the plate and they’re the army that will get us through this tough period. pic.twitter.com/OnguKZCNiY
