COVID-19 testing across the province is increasing, which includes our region.
The Northwestern Health Unit reports that testing rates in our area are among the highest in the north.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill says they have performed over 700 tests with over 500 coming back negative.
The remainder are pending and the region only has 10 confirmed positive cases.
Testing is on-going with some now being sent to Winnipeg.
Dr. Gemmill says it’s fortunate that our area is behind in the timeline for the virus as we can use other areas to determine next steps.
