The deer in Dryden must not have heard about the importance of physical distancing as one recently jumped through a window into a local house on Park Crescent.
Homeowner Marty Coates says on April 5th he was in his home where he suddenly heard a loud crashing sound and his wife informed him that a deer jumped in through their basement window.
Coates says they contacted the police and tried to ensure the deer stayed in the basement while they waited for help to arrive.
Once police arrived they were able to coax the deer to head back outside.
Coates says the only injuries were minor for the deer and there wasn’t too much damage aside from the window.
He does say the cleaning has been taking longer than expected as the glass has gotten around a lot of the house and there is some blood from the deer as well.
He also is thankful for the help he received as a neighbor gave him a couple of pieces of plywood to cover the window before repairs are completed.
Coates also is thankful for the police who did a great job getting the deer back outside.
He says the deer in town are usually talked about for being an issue when it comes to eating flowers and other problems, but he never expected one to jump through his window.
