Although the long weekend is finally upon us, the Northwestern Health Unit is still recommending the public to stay home.
The recommendation was made to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill says travelling is not recommended, even within the region.
Gemmill says if people respect the recommendation, then there won’t be a need for blockades and that is the best possible outcome.
He also says Ontario is still in the middle of the exponential curve of new cases so we should be taking all the precautions we can.
