Dryden Regional Health Centre Chief Executive Officer Doreen Armstrong-Ross stresses although its disappointing to have their first case of COVID-19, everyone must remain strong in the fight against the virus.
“While this definitely increases anxiety and fear, not only with hospital staff but in the community, we are well prepared to deal with this.”
Armstrong-Ross notes “We continue with preparations and planning. We do expect that at some point we will have a patient in the hospital that is positive. We do not at this time.”
Chief of Staff Dr. Bruce Cook has stated the hospital has the equipment and resources needed in the event of any new cases and stresses staff are ready to act at any given time.
Armstrong-Ross is thanking the community for respecting and observing visitor restrictions and understanding the need for reduced non-essential services.
She is also thanking community members who have stepped forward to offer personal protection equipment.
Doreen Armstrong-Ross turned to a quote she heard to stress the importance of self-isolation and physical distancing.
“We the health care workers are not your front line any longer. We are the last line of defence. You, my fellow people, are the front liners now. The war has shifted to the community and it is up to you.”
