The Mayor of Red Lake admits these are unprecedented times, which call for unprecedented measures.
Fred Mota is urging everyone to follow the rules of physical distancing and self-isolation.
“To date there are no reported cases here in Red Lake, however, some communities within the Kenora district have. We as Red Lake’ers must remain diligent in our efforts.”
There are five confirmed cases in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area.
Mota says “By staying home. You are keeping everyone, including our front-line health care workers, seniors and our most vulnerable safe.”
Mota is urging everyone to “protect yourself, protect your family and protect our community.”
He says he understands we are currently experiencing high anxiety and stressful times, but he urges everyone to do their part to prevent and slow the spread of the coronavirus.
