Thunder Bay’s District Health Unit is reporting five additional cases of COVID-19 in our district. That brings our district’s total to nine confirmed cases of COVID-19.
A public health investigation and follow-up began immediately upon receipt of a positive result, including after regular operating hours.
The investigation of the five new reports from yesterday are currently in progress.
With expectations that the number of COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District Health Unit region will continue to increase, TBDHU will no longer issue media releases to announce each new case but will keep up-to-date case information on its website.
Earlier this month they had two cases involving seniors who had travelled to Florida, a 20-year-old who had visited the United States and another case in Nipigon that involved visiting the east coast.
The Northwestern Health Unit has also reported cases in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Rainy River and Fort Frances.
