Premier Doug Ford is defending his government’s list of essential businesses that can remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ford understands there are questions surrounding the list, but notes they consulted industry prior to releasing it.
He says the reason why they deemed the Beer Store, cannabis stores and the LCBO as essential was due to concerns from mental health agencies with clients dealing with addiction.
Ford stresses they don’t want to put an extra burden on the health care system.
He notes his list is a living document and can be adjusted as the pandemic situation evolves.
That means businesses can be added or taken off.
