The first of the COVID-19 Assessment Centres are now open in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area.
Testing centres are or will be available in Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Kenora, Atikokan, Fort Frances and Rainy River.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill says “It’s not for everybody who has a sniffle to go to. There is a set criteria for testing and we can help if people call our hotline to get a sense of whether or not that you meet the conditions to go in for assessment or testing at one of the centres.”

Dr. Gemmill says “They (assessment centres) are in place and they are there to assess individuals who may be at risk but also to help us ascertain the level of the spread in our community.”
Appointments are needed at all locations and walk-in’s aren’t being accepted.
