Ronald Thomas Robinson
Taken too soon, in the early morning of March 13th, 2020 surrounded by love and comfort at the DRHC. My beloved husband, Ronald Thomas Robinson passed away at the age of 64. Born November 17th, 1955 and raised in the Oxdrift and Dryden area all his life. His health became a struggle after two years with a diagnosis of lung cancer.
Ron and I met in the summer of ’83. We married in April of ’90. I am his love and wife till we meet again… Jo Ann Elaine (nee Marion). We shared over thirty six years of togetherness with a simple promise to love and care for each other; through the good times and hard times, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.
Ron is survived by his siblings; Linda, Danny, Janet Hipfner and Penny, in laws; Ron Marion, Cheryl Trist, Nina Kiewning, Melainie Carpenter, mother in law; Alice Marion, numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephew.
Predeceased parents; Bernice Louise Lyle Robinson, Raymond Dantel Robinson, father in law; Nelson Gerald Marion.
A beloved son and son in law, a devoted brother, my man and my husband, a loving uncle and great uncle, a best friend, buddy, co-worker.
Dryden has always been home for us. Ron loved the waters and the great outdoors, from windsailing; boat sailing, year round fishing was his greatest joy. He was a provider hunting moose and partridge. He was the blueberry picking God, other sport interest were baseball, curling and golf. We owned a lil’ piece of heaven known as “minecamp”, our tiny log cabin on the lake, our place of relaxation, ideal fishing, boat cruising and driftwood finds, sunsets and gazing at the stars, early sunrises was Ron’s favorite start of the day, 5 a.m. fishing on Bruce’s Point.
Ron’s been a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 402 in Thunder Bay for forty two years, as an electrician working with other tradesman on construction sites in all of Ontario, from Thunder Bay to Windsor to Attawapiskat to all of Dryden’s neighboring towns and cities, a few years in Saskatchewan and final years working for M C Lough Electric Inc.
He volunteered at the Metis Nation of Ontario local office for over six years, at first with the harvesting/hunting rights, to chair on council, later as president. He did his best to bring the community members together. He managed a positive circle of council members and had supportive guidance from nerighboring councils of Kenora, Fort Frances and Atikokan.
Special thanks for kindness, exceptional care and compassion to; Dr. M. Cortens, Dr. R. Bester, clinic staff, the DRHC RN’s and staff, DRHC Oncology Unit, Telemedicine clinic and to Dr. Chan, Dr. Hagerty, Dr. Davis, Dr. Gehman and all surrounding professionals at the Regional Cancer Care in TBRHSC.
A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
