Organizers of the Special Olympic Winter Games in Thunder Bay are calling the event a big hit.
Committee Chair Barry Streib says it was a great experience, starting from when everyone arrived to when the event wrapped up on the weekend.
Streib says they had a solid volunteer team that was welcoming.
He notes the priority was ensuring athletes, coaches and visitors enjoyed a warm and enjoyable stay.
Streib stresses he was very pleased with the quality of work that was put into organizing the event, noting he had one of the best teams in all of Canada.
Streib says Saturday featured the Closing Ceremony and dance, as well as the extinguishing of the Flame of Hope.
He notes some of the athletes can now qualify for Team Canada for the World Winter Games.
