The golden anniversary of Kin Canada continues to be celebrated in communities across the region.
Flag raising ceremonies were recently held to recognize 100 years of the service club.
Local member Chantelle Pihlak says one of the major local programs they support is the Still Me Program at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Nationally, Kin Canada focuses on projects related to Canadian Blood Services and Cystic Fibrosis.
Pihlak says “Over time it’s become important to become aware of what communities need. Our motto is ‘Serving the Communities Greatest Needs’, so we try to look for the comradery and helping each other out and moving forward to bring positive initiatives to the community.”
Hal Rogers created the club in 1920 at the age of 21 when he wasn’t allowed to join another organization because of a fundamental rule of membership.
