Members of the Dryden Detachment OPP visited Lillian Berg School in Vermilion Bay on Friday to present students and staff with a collection of new skates, helmets and broomball equipment.
Back in November, a hockey game was organized in Vermilion Bay which saw the Dryden GM Ice Dogs take on the OPP Badgers; a team made up of officers and area community members. The game ended with the Dryden GM Ice Dogs edging the OPP Badgers 3-0.
The goal of the game was to raise funds to purchase skates, helmets and broomball equipment for students of Lillian Berg School. Businesses, organizations and volunteers came together and raised $3000 through donations, ticket sales, a penny auction and chili sales.
21 pairs of skates, 20 helmets, 25 broomball sticks, 4 broomballs and a collection of hockey pucks were purchased and delivered to students at Lillian Berg School on Friday.
The OPP would like to thank all the players, spectators, volunteers and donors who came together help make this event such a phenomenal success. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
