The provincial government is making an important investment to provide reliable Internet service in Mishkeegogamang Ojibway Nation.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford says they are helping increase broadband access and affordability for more than 600 residents.
He says $179,040 in Northern Ontario Heritage funding is going to K-Net to purchase and install two, 200-foot broadband towers.
Rickford stresses the stronger network will benefit homes and businesses as well as important services and facilities, including the e-learning centre, band office, community centre and health centre telemedicine office.
He states the project will bring new economic and educational opportunities to the community.
Chief David Masakeyash says they will be better positioned to compete for business and other opportunities with the modernization of their communications.
