A generous donation to the Oncology Unit at the Dryden Regional Health Centre thanks to those who attended last years Ladies Night Out Pyjama Party.
100 Care bags with $150 worth of items were presented to hospital staff today. (Friday)
Maureen Caul, Tanya Bernie, Michelle Williams and Shauna Kowalchuk are the organizers of the event.
Caul says “People are going through chemotherapy. There’s a lot of things that they typically need to buy just to help ease the burden of chemotherapy and it’s a great expense to that. We just felt that it was a great cause.”
Caul adds cancer patients often don’t have the funds or the energy to go out and buy important products.
The goal is to help those going through chemotherapy feel more confident and comfortable in a hospital setting.
Products contained in the bags include a journal, word search puzzles, lip balm, gift certificates for massages, meal replacements, skin care products, mouth rinse, warm socks, a heating pad as well as special tooth paste and mouth wash.
