This week on Northwest Monitor a look at how to handle the stress of the holidays, an uplifting message from Fort Frances youth, and a chat with the Kenora-Rainy River MPP about how the last year went.
First, we start with thousands of people who do not want some land developed on Lake of the Woods, south of Kenora. They’ve signed an on-line petition asking for the city of Kenora not to allow it.
Tim Davidson spoke to Aaron London, the Chair of Friends of Town Island and Kenora Mayor Dan Reynard about the issue.
A new video with a positive lifting message from a group of youth from the Fort Frances area.
It was written, produced and performed by young people, with some saying this is a perfect option for those not into sports and want to try something different. Organizers say this could expand further north, such as Dryden and Kenora.

Mike Ebbeling sat down with Kenora-Rainy River’s Greg Rickford to recap what ended up being a very busy 2019. He focused on how much investment the province has done in the north, as well as what he calls “a love in” with the federal government of late.
The Christmas season is upon us, and while it’s thought of as a time celebrate and spend time with your loved ones, Thunder Bay Counselling says many also feel a lot of pressure at this time of year. That may include people who are hosting parties and worry they might have spent too much money, or worrying about money spent on gifts.
