Provincial Police in Dryden are reporting a large seizure of illegal tobacco after a traffic stop in Vermilion Bay.
Police say on Sunday around noon, police conducted the traffic stop on Highway 17.
OPP then say as a result of the traffic stop, they seized 111 cases of cigarettes with a total estimated value of $444,000.
Police say 41-year-old Jeffrey Zavala from London, Ontario and 41-year-old Phillip Nugent of Richmond Hill, Ontario have been charged with Trafficking Contraband Tobacco, Possession of Unmarked Cigarettes for the Purpose of Sale, and Possession of Unmarked Cigarettes.
Police also say both the accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on January 27th, 2020.
