Today (Wednesday) marks the third day that some members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation will walk off the job.
The one-day strike will hit the northwest region, with all students in Thunder Bay who do not attend a French language catholic school getting the day off.
Union members in Thunder Bay, as well as nine other impacted boards across the province, will be back on the picket line.
The job action does not impact any schools in the Keewatin-Patricia, Northwest Catholic, Kenora Catholic or Rainy River district school boards as well as French language schools.
It’s expected that it will be classes as usual for everyone tomorrow. (Thursday)
OSSTF local spokesperson Rich Seeley says they want to clear the air that this strike isn’t only about wage increases.
“Wages are a part of it, but they are a small part of it. This is about class sizes. This is about opportunities for students. This is about not forcing students into e-learning. This is about having funds for supports and support staff can be there for our most vulnerable students.”
Seeley says the union is willing to return to the bargaining table as soon as the government gets class size and e-learning issues off the table.
