A fantastic idea by a local business came to life Sunday afternoon!
For 2 hours Pharmasave in Dryden closed their doors to adult shoppers and had over 30 preregistered 5 to 12 year olds – without their parents – doing some Christmas shopping.
The youngsters all came with budgets, money in hand and a shopping gift list. They were greeted at the door by the friendly Pharmasave staff and CKDR’S Santa Spider-Dad McCarthy!
The young holiday shoppers got to cruise the store searching for the gifts they needed. They were all assisted when needed.
After their shopping was done the hard part was next. Parting with the money they came with. The shoppers got a math lesson from Tanya Birnie at the till as they finalized their purchases.
Then some more fun!! There was a gift wrapping station, cookie decorating, some photo props and much more!!
The youngsters all left with smiles on their faces and some wonderful gifts for family members.
Finally I couldn’t help but overhear one young shopper reply to the question of who was getting the mouthwash that he was purchasing as a gift? Maybe the young boy didn’t know what he was buying? “It’s going to be for my Dad. He has bad breath.” Yup he knew and it was a perfect gift!
Well done Pharmasave and thanks for the invite! I had a blast of fun…..just like the kids did.
Sincerely,
Spider-Dad McCarthy
