Public input is now being accepted on a provincial Forest Sector strategy.
The document proposes several measures including reducing regulatory burdens, making greater use of the existing wood supply and the by-products from mills, as well as growing the workforce through educational and training programs.
The PC government says the goal is to strengthen Ontario’s forest industry.
The sector currently generates over $16 billion in revenue and supports approximately 155,000 direct and indirect jobs in the province.
