A lengthy investigation by Nishnawbe Aski Police has lead to Fraud charges in Fort Severn First Nation.
Police say on July 12th they stopped a vehicle and the traffic stop lead police into a detailed investigation.
Police then say the investigation led them to a number of incidents that occurred over a number of years involving fraudulent activity which amounted between 25 thousand and 250 thousand dollars.
A 51-year-old former band manager from Fort Severn First Nation was charged with two counts of Fraud Over 5 thousand dollars and one count of Breach of Trust.
The man can’t be named at the time due to the processing of court documents and he will appear in court on February 10th.
Fort Severn First Nation is located about 715 kilometres northeast of Red Lake.
