If you are looking for a new home in Ontario, the government is giving you more choice.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark says a new guide has been made to give consumers advice on how to buy or build a tiny home.
The government adds tiny homes are less costly to build and maintain and are more affordable than traditional housing.
The Housing Minister’s Parliamentary Assistant says they met with builders, designers and regulators to help with creation of the guide, called Build or Buy a Tiny Home Guide.
However, the government adds municipal zoning by-laws can affect whether a tiny home can be built on a property.
Tiny homes cannot be smaller than 17.5 square metres, as set out in Ontario’s Building Code.
