The Ford government is simply cleaning up the mess that was left for them by the previous Liberal Government.
That’s what Greg Rickford, the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines had to say in Queen’s Park when asked why the PC’s have not yet lowered hydro bills.
NDP leader Andrea Horwath said that while the Premier promised a 12% decrease in hydro bills, some seniors have seen a 7% increase.
Rickford says “The Auditor General, who conveniently the leader of the opposition is not speaking about, concluded that ratepayers paid $37-billion more necessary from 2006 to 2014 under the previous Liberal government they supported 100% of the time.”
The Kenora-Rainy River MPP stresses the government intends to deliver on a promise to lower hydro rates.
The province has been under fire over their recent cancellation of hundreds of green energy contracts.
