The cancellation of hundred of green energy contracts by the Ford government has cost Ontario taxpayers 231-million dollars.
The NDP revealed the expense in a line item in the Ministry of Energy Public Accounts as “other transactions.”
Associate Energy Minister Bill Walker defends the cancelling of those contracts saying the previous Liberal Government kept spending billions and billions and they couldn’t keep up with it.
Walker also says they made it clear Ontario didn’t need the extra power.
NDP Energy Critic Peter Tabuns says the expense flies in the face of government claims there would be no cost associated with cancelling the contracts.
Tabuns also says the cancelling of the contracts isn’t helping lower hydro bills.
