A key vacancy has been filled by the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
Shannon Bailey, who was principal at Evergreen School in Kenora, becomes an acting Superintendent of Education.
Bailey says she’s honoured by the promotion.
“I think that there were a variety of candidates within the Board who have qualifications and capacities, so I feel very fortunate that I was the successful candidate to hold the position now.”
Bailey will oversee the portfolios of secondary education, learning technologies and Indigenous education.
The appointment was necessary because the public school board was down to just one Superintendent following the secondment of Tania Sterling to the Ministry of Education and the promotion of Caryl Hron as acting Director of Education.
