The Northern Ontario School of Medicine is turning to the public for feedback in order to determine community needs.
Dean, President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sarita Verma has been on the job for about four months now and has had an opportunity to tour the entire region including Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay.
Dr. Verma says the trip was more of a meet-and-greet, but it turned into something much more important.
“We’re really interested in knowing what will the Medical School of the future look like. NOSM’s poised to do its next strategic plan and here’s a really important question. Are we training the right people? Are we doing the right thing? Are we on the right course.
Dr. Verma adds “How does the public, how do the stakeholders, the students, the faculty and the patients feel about a medical school that’s supposed to meet their needs. Are we meeting your needs?”
She is planning to hold Town Hall meetings and a survey will soon appear on the NOSM website.
