Rick Daubney
February 26, 1968 – October 30, 2019
Rick Daubney (Dauber), 51, passed away after fighting a courageous battle on October 30th, 2019 in his home with his family by his side.
Rick was born in Brandon Manitoba. He met his wife Robin in Winnipeg and the two eventually settled in Dryden with their children Ryan and Rachele. Rick was passionate about the game of baseball, whether it was playing, coaching or watching the Yankees. He was very involved with the ‘Light the Ball Diamonds’ committee as he believed in the project and wanted to better the diamonds for all who were as passionate about the sport as him.
He was also a Volunteer Firefighter for 17 years. Rick originally started out as one of the “Barclay Boyz”, then moved into town and joined Hall 1. Rick eventually took on a roll as Captain and loved sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He finished his firefighting career with the Wabigoon Fire Department. During his time with the fire department he was able to represent Northern Ontario at the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship.
Rick recently found his calling as an Operator/Mechanic for the Ontario Clean Water Agency. He enjoyed serving the surrounding area and remote northern communities. What he enjoyed best about his job were the people he worked with.
Rick is survived by his wife Robin of 28 years, his son Ryan (Katelyn) and daughter Rachele, his parents Anna-Dee Erickson and Bill (Wendy), siblings Thomas (Tegan, Cassidy, Dori) and Lisa (Jamie, Cameron, Ethan), in-laws Peter and Cecily Marykuca, Ron (Cindy, Kara (Troy), Randy (Effie) and Regan (Don, Steven). Many friends and family will miss him.
A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, November 18th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
