This is the day all sorts of ghouls and goblins will be out.
Trick-or-treaters are getting excited for the start of Halloween.
Motorists are asked to slow down or even adjust your travel plans.
You should be aware that kids may be darting out in the middle of the road with all of the excitement.
For trick-or-treaters, you are asked to stay on one side of the road and avoid crossing back and forth.
The Dryden Police Service is out with some helpful tips to keep kids safe.
-Wear bright colours, reflective tape and use a flashlight or glow stick.
-Avoid costumes with baggy sleeves and long hems and wear make-up instead of a mask.
-Be respectful of people’s property
-Don’t trick or treat alone, walk in a group or with a trusted adult
-Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering. Don’t eat candy until you get home.
-Stay in well lit, familiar areas and neighbourhoods
-Wear make-up instead of a mask. But if you do wear a mask, make sure you can see, hear and breathe well in your mask.
-Never enter a stranger’s home-stay outside on the porch or steps.
‘Operation Pumpkin’ is also back for another year.
The annual initiative is a joint venture with Dryden Police, Dryden Fire, local paramedics, Bell Canada and the Amateur Radio Club.
If anyone needs help, you can approach volunteers and officers who will be patrolling area streets.
A reminder that the Mill sirens will sound in Dryden at 6:00pm and 8:00pm to mark the start and end of Halloween.
