If the younger population in the Kenora Riding had their say, Rudy Turtle would be representing us in Ottawa.
The Student Vote Canada campaign saw mock elections at elementary and high schools across the district.
Overall, Turtle and his NDP party picked up 39.18% support, with actual winner Eric Melillo finishing well behind at 19.21%.
Incumbent Liberal Bob Nault gained 19.08% support, with the Green’s Kirsi Ralko not to far behind at 17.29%.
In Canada, the Liberals would have won a minority government, but with fewer seats.
Students favoured the Liberals in 110 ridings, the NDP in 99 and the Conservatives in 94.
All three NDP candidates in northwestern Ontario gained the approval of youth.
Here are the complete student election results and a breakdown of participation rates at area schools.
