The latest amazing production from Dryden’s ‘Sunset Thespians’ was a roaring belly-laughing hit! Here’s an after message from the Sunset Thespians Irene Skene…..
“Knickers! A big thank you goes out to all who made this production the success it was!
When a script is looked at, so many aspects have to be considered. The original script was a stage play (not dinner theatre), done in two acts (not three), by four women.
So some tweaking had to be done, and tweak we did, making it a three-act dinner-theatre production with twenty-one actors. Well, if four actors can make an audience laugh, just think what twenty-one could do!
Helping make the three sold-out performances (September 26-28) a laugh were eight radio broadcasters in the roles of….radio broadcasters. From CKDR came the voices of Richard McCarthy, Mike Ebbeling, Chris Pollard, Rayson Martyn and Bruce Walchuk, along with announcers from New York, Yarmouth and Whitehorse.
Adding to the laughter on stage were Chris Marchand (TV Interviewer), Chris Pollard (crowd, red-neck, banker), Andrew Skene (Ted, banker), Jason Roussin (crowd, banker), Bruce Walchuk (banker), Ben Maggrah (crowd, Frank) and Peter Marshall (mayor). Also adding to the laughter were Maureen Wall (Martha, gossip), Sheila Wilson (Rhonda, gossip) and Irene Skene (Mable, gossip).
And the four women around whom the play was centered – who made it all happen – who took Elliston Falls from upside-down to right-side up were Tina Moline (Mary), Maxime Fink (Terri), Natalie Callewaert (Amanda) and Amy Maua (Barb).
No knickers were in knots with this production. With the talent and dedication of all involved – the cast, the Best Western, the community and the audience – it was an evening to laugh about and reflect over. Till next time……….”
Thank YOU Sunset Thespians! We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!!
