A draft five year Strategic Plan for the City of Dryden has been released.
Chief Administrative Officer Roger Nesbitt says there are six main priorities in the document:
-Community Safety and Wellbeing
-Community Diversity and Inclusion
-Infrastructure
-Financial sustainability
-Economic and Investment Diversity
-Communications and Our People
Nesbitt says staff have been working hard on the strategy since the Spring, noting they wanted to get feedback from everyone.
“Residents, with our businesses, key stakeholders in the community, different organizations, Indigenous peoples and really our internal staff, both Council, senior management team and our front-line workers.”
Nesbitt notes “This plan will really guide the activities and priorities of what the municipal employees will work towards over the next five years. It guides our municipal leadership as well. So, it’s extremely important.”
He adds the document will play a major role in future decision making.
Specific priorities are contained in the strategic plan including quality of life, environmental stewardship, promoting volunteers, community leadership, waterfront development and making Dryden a “Regional Hub.”
Nesbitt says there is also a major focus on municipal staff and attracting workers, stressing “We want to be the best of the best.”
