He’s considered one of the great Builders of Sport in the area and the icon will be inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday.
This week CKDR has been profiling the Class of 2019 and today we feature Dryden’s Mike Furlong.
Hall of Fame Executive Director Diane Imrie says Furlong covered four to five decades as a coach, mentor and a sports consultant.
Imrie says he is highly regarded by so many people for all he did in hockey, football, gymnastics, swimming and any other sport.
Furlong did play three seasons with the University of North Dakota Hockey team, where he was a captain in his final year of play.
He played in 88 games and recorded 17 goals, 22 assists and 39 points.
Tickets are still available for the NWO Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
