A Thunder Bay officer involved in a highly publicized slapping incident is being charged under the Police Services Act.
The incident occurred on December 1st, 2018 and was widely circulated on social media.
It involved a 17-year-old female who was injured.
Police say she was intoxicated and was being transported to hospital for treatment.
At the scene an officer was seen appearing to slap the youth.
The officer is charged with two counts of unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority.
The individual remains on leave.
