The 38th Annual Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame gala is days away.
The banquet is Saturday night in Thunder Bay and CKDR has spent the past few days recognizing the inductees.
Hall of Fame Executive Director Diane Imrie says this year they are honouring Lloyd Stansell in the Builders category.
Imrie says he’s considered the “Godfather” of ice making.
“Was an ice maker of the very finest quality from the local, all the way up to the world level. 1958. He started in Red Lake actually and then went to Red Rock and looked after ice across Canada, including World Championships.”
