The All-Nations regional Hospital Committee in Kenora has made its first decision.
Colliers Project Management has been hired to guide the project.
Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Racette says a total of five people will be involved from Colliers, including two from Winnipeg, two from Thunder Bay and one from Ottawa.
He stresses this is just the start of the process.
“What we have approval for from government is to do the planning part of the new hospital. Not to do design and nothing like that. So, basically we have approval for planning, so we’ve recruited them (Colliers) to be our project manager to oversee the plan.”
He says the first stage doesn’t involve site selection.
Racette believes the planning will take about two years to complete.
“We got a lot of work to do. It needs to be managed as we move the project forward and we need to hit our deadlines so that we can get our submissions in to government.”
