A big addition to health care services in Dryden as the community is welcoming a new physician.
Francois Doiron is now working at the Clinic, taking over Dr. Ian Ayers practice.
He will also have duties at the hospital and in the emergency room.
Doiron grew up in Terrace Bay and Marathon and he says he knew right away he wanted to practice in a small community.
He is a graduate of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and in his first year he actually worked in Eagle Lake First Nation for his Indigenous placement.
Doiron says “I just found that Eagle River as well as Dryden were such a warm environment.”
Doiron notes living and working here was a natural fit as he and his partner picked up the practice of farming as well.
“Dryden was such a nice environment to do farming but also the people here are so inviting and warm to pretty much anyone that comes here that we felt like this would be a very good match for us.”
